Coating Technology
Our anilox roller and sleeve coating has to be of the highest quality to achieve the best results from the lasers NAT optics. We are supplied with the Swiss manufactured Sulzer Metco Triplex II plasma system.
This is a step beyond the conventional plasma system that relies on a single anode and cathode as the power to super melt the ceramic powder used as the anilox surface.
Triplex II uses 3 anodes and cathodes to melt the powder more efficiently and this improves the density of lay down as well as the hardness.
Porosity is reduced to about 1% and the hardness goes from 1300 to 1600 Vickers prior to engraving.
The coating is so hard after spraying that they can only be ground and polished by diamond wheels and tapes.
As part of our anilox roller refurbishment capacity we are also able to offer stainless steel build ups to replace old copper plated deposits or as a repair to severely damaged rollers.
While the engraving system is the key area of the Anilox roller it is important to have a coating that is consistent. Using the latest Triplex 2 technology our ceramic coatings have an increased hardness of up to 1600 Vickers. This style of plasma application also ensures an improved density and a porosity level of less than 1%.
